First off, I'd like to ask that everyone hold off on shouting "you know what" until the end. Hello everyone, I'm sorry I couldn't make it to USCC, I'm just a little too entrenched at the moment. However, I hope to see all of you at ICC in October As you know, we have a new RC staff. Lee Ledbetter, ARC Pubs and Arkansas Admin. Jess Fazio, ARC Outreach/Education and Oklahoma Admin. Jessica Earl, ARC Services and and Louisiana Admin. Trish Dubois, ARC Web and East Texas Admin. and Bekkah Anderson, ARC Prestige and West Texas Admin. As Admins, each will be responsible for assiting in elections, mediations, investigations, and representing the Regional Staff to their area. For Publications, Lee is developing an awesome layout for Sanctuary, with the latest issue due out very soon. The goal is to publish Sanctuary monthly. However, to do that we'd like to hire a team of Project Assistants to act as Staff writers, artists, and talent scouts. Jess as Outreach and Education is going to be assisting Domains with their recruitment and retention efforts, as well as mentoring new officers to help them get settled into their positions. I'd like to try to expand into new cities, but to do that we are going to need members from nearby cities to volunteer to drive and post recruitment materials. Keep in mind, this would be an excellent time to help with recruiting, because of the National Membership Drive. Jessica, as ARC Services is going to assist in the planning and scheduling of FGotMs, as well as other regional level events, like charity drives. There has been some talk of Charity reformation at the club level lately, and because of that, I'd like to try something new. To me it seems like charities basically fall into one of three categories: donating blood, donating manpower/time, or donating money/items. Whatever drives we have had, some members are inevitably disappointed that two of the charity types were unavailable. So, I'm proposing charity themes that will cover all three. Hypothetical example: The holiday season rolls around, and we do a Holiday Spirit charity drive where members can donate blood, donate toys or other items, or donating time by volunteering for certain activities. That would give three different ways to earn the 30R for the charity drive. Trish as ARC Web, will be working to transform the coordinator side of the Regional Website into an information gateway. Sort of a one stop shop for OOC info. She'll be bringing together the offorts of the RC staffers, and putting it in an easy to access format. Finally, we have Bekkah, who is in charge of Prestige archiving, auditing, rebuilding...you name it. So that's our staff, and kind of snapshot of what's in store. I'd like to briefly touch on conflicts withing the organization. I think a little presumption of decency, would help with the realization, that the other party is not purposely intending to harm you, and it will go a long way to smoothing things over. I think this ties into being more social within our social organization. I'd like to see Domains host at least one social a month. This can be just about anything: movie night, pizza party, walk around the park, costumed black and white photos around the city, etc. I'd just like to see members doing more together outside of games. I think this socialization would help smooth over a lot of negative IC interactions. After all if your buddy gaks your character, hey, no hard feelings. But if that guy you hardly know gaks your character, he's a jerk! It doesn't have to be that way. So play nice, make friends, and show everyone why *this* is the Region of Love.
